Identifying the
pectoral fin

  • The fin is long and broad, narrowly rounded at the apex.
  • Ventral surface is lighter with dusky coloration throughout the midsection and along the margins of the leading and trailing edge.
  • Dorsal surface is slate grey in color with an obvious white margin running along the edge of the free rear tip

STATUS AND RANGE

The Porbeagle Shark Lamna nasus is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ and in CITES Appendix II.
