The bushmeat trade is an essential source of income, employment, and sustenance for many people in Central Africa, especially those living in rural communities. However, bushmeat hunting raises potential risks if unregulated or poorly managed, threatening wild species with overexploitation and creating opportunities for the emergence and transmission of zoonotic diseases.
